Michelle Cremidis

Michelle Cremidis was one of FeedbackPanda’s early subscribers who saw the value and the potential that FBP had to offer. She is a veteran VIPKid teacher, as well as an experienced brick-and-mortar teacher, who even taught in South Korea for a year. Teacher Michelle’s background is in music, which she taught for many years before becoming an ESL teacher. She and her husband have traveled around the globe, although they enjoy coming back home to their dogs too. FeedbackPanda welcomes Michelle as this week’s V.I.Panda!

What companies do you teach for?
VIPKID. I am going through the application phase for Magic Ears as well. I am also in the process of having my website created in order to start my private Online ESL business: Happy Face English

Do you have an outside job – related or unrelated to teaching?
This is my full time job.

How long have you been teaching?
Almost three years online.

Have you always taught? Or did you start out in another field entirely?
I have been working in Education for all of my adult life. I started teaching in B & M schools as a music teacher. I taught for about nine years in the B & M schools. I spent some time working as a Behavior Consultant with at-risk youth in a behavior company before I moved to South Korea to teach ESL. I lived there for a year and then came back to the states and started teaching Online.

Tricks for staying alert:
I try to get up and move between classes. The more I move the better I feel. Also, I try to do some good aromatherapy such as lemongrass. Caffeine helps too.

What is your schedule like?
I work all-nighters two weekends out of the month. All-nighters consist of Friday and Saturday from 8:30 p.m. ET to 10 a.m. the following morning. I have probably about five classes in a row and then take a half hour break. During the weekdays I work from 1 AM until 10 AM but as the school schedule changes in China, I see myself now getting bookings from 3:30 a.m. ET to 10 a.m. ET.

Favorite lesson (or level) to teach:
I love my Level 7s. I especially like the unit on the Olympics. The students are great and do a good job holding a decent conversation with you. You can be a bit more creative with your teaching techniques and focus more on having the students use their critical thinking skills with higher level students.

Teacher Michelle’s really awesome background!

What do you do between classes?
I get my student feedback completed and prepare for the next class. I do a lot with digital rewards and props so I am preparing my Google slides and rewards for the next class.

How do you use FeedbackPanda (what is your process)?
I use FeedbackPanda to keep track of my students (I have taught almost 2000 students with VIPKID!). When I have a student on my schedule I always go back through FBP and see if I have taught that student before and include that in the feedback: For example: “It has been six weeks since I saw Bao Bao last. I missed him!” I also love to keep track my rewards and any t2t feedback I left in the previous classes with that student.

Good feedback must contain
A lot of positive comments about the student. A personal note so parents know you have made a connection with their child. At least one thing that you would like to see the child work on at home before their next class.

What do you like to see when checking the Teacher-to-Teacher Feedback (notes on students from teachers in the VIPKid/Gogokid portal)?
Notes or comments to the teachers who import your templates (if applicable)? Please don’t copy a teacher’s template word for word. Make sure that you add your own personal touches to it that fit the student and their performance with that lesson. Parents know when they see a carbon copy and general feedback that is unpersonable.

Has FeedbackPanda helped you manage your job and personal life? Any specifics? (e.g. before and after)
I don’t know how I functioned without FB. I was writing all my comments by hand and it would take hours! Now it will take about a half hour at the most! I have gotten tons of positive feedback from parents about how responsible I am as a teacher with providing such in-depth parent feedback and comments. It has also helped me become a lot more organized.

What are your interests?
My husband and I have spent a lot of time traveling. We can talk your ear off for hours about our adventures! I love reading and I am a big horror movie fan. I also have a deep appreciation for the arts so I love to see classical music concerts and symphony orchestras perform. I also love to go to art and history museums. My husband and I have three dogs: A pug named Mugzy, a puggle named Tornado, and a Chug named Nacho. We spend a lot of time with them taking them to the park or the doggie park. I also love to run and to do yoga.

Any other comments you wish to communicate?
Shout out to Teacher Caryn! My favorite Feedback Teacher is Teacher Caryn! I always look for her templates on FB. She is always consistent in her templates and does a really good job describing the lesson! Thank you, Caryn!
